Description
Summary:碩士 === 臺北市立師範學院 === 視覺藝術研究所 === 90 === Abstract The merits of public art are: idealizing citizens’ lives, improving our living space, and increasing chances for people to get close to art; installing public art seems to be a perfect way for urban regeneration. 2002 is the 10th year since “the Plan of Public Art Installation” was announced by the Council for Cultural Affairs. Our public-sector laid down policies which contributed many locations to be highlighted by varied styles of art works; and as a result, the interaction between art and space has been enhanced. However, in Taiwan, some art works were inappropriately installed just for the sake of it. Can we actually contrast spacious perception by installing public art? Wondering about the affections that Taipei’s public arts have made, for example how these works are displayed and how pedestrians respond to them, led me to start this investigation. Taiwanese public art is currently in a predicament that many people are discontent with the result, yet we are uncertain what caused the problem. In order to find out what went wrong, I examined the procedures of how some of Taipei’s public arts were installed in this thesis. Public art is not merely a piece of art work which just happened to be installed in a public area; I hope it can be a pleasant communication between resident, urban space and art.
