The core of this study was the "mother" and "daughter" in a single female parent family. Through in-depth description to present the story, the life experience of this single female family was emphasized, understood, and considered. The researcher would like to share the most important findings and most controversial issues of this study as follows. A-Huei, the subject of this study, was a typical victim of marital violence. She was so influenced by the misconcept of "give the child a complete family", "empathy the abuser", "fate", "women are obedient and virtuous", "expect the abuser to change" and so on. On the other hand, she was indulged in the scenario of "violence and love exist together", so that she lingered between the decision of "enduring" or "leaving" the abuser. The researcher found out the reasons why A-Huei got divorced were interacted by the life experience of "violence are increasing", "misconcept of the value of normal family", "divorce is getting common", "divorce is the only way to get rid of violence cycle", "no more violence, get some safe and sound space for Sing-Sing and myself", "the success of prototype family" and so on. After divorce, Sing-Sing, A-Huei, and Chun-Zai (the ex-husband) sustained the relationship of separation and reunion. Such relationship provided a chance for them to adjust their relationship to get along well after divorce, helped A-Huei share the responsibility for raising the child, and helped Sing-Sing find a better single parent life than normal family one. The story of this single female family''s separation and reunion is still going on till now. The researcher was also initialed to reflect and percept the social construction. Our traditional culture always expects the normal family, in lack of respecting the multiplex of family. Such viewpoint often caused more impact in the process of the accommodation of single life. In fact, the researcher found that divorce is not only the way to stop the violence cycle, when the victim was capable of coping with the precedent factors and resources such as stable career and family support, divorce can also help the single one to overcome the harms from divorce and improve her life. The abusive experience of marital violence on a female was an individual problem by first thought. In fact it was interacted with the socio-cultural environment, the deeply rooted misconcept of normal family and the paternal authority. Under such misconcept, the researcher not only found the hard time of the female, the wife trapped in an abusive marital relationship full of violence and conflict, but also the male, the husband indulged in gambling, alcohol and violence because of no position for male dignity. Both caused the couple trapped in double-bind adversity. Therefore, the researcher comprehended that the frame of normal family and gender issue needed to be released and to receive the multiple. The researcher believes that human beings prone to be virtuous and strive upward, which make people find "not the best but more appropriate life style" for themselves. If the social values can be more multiple and open, more single families can adjust well and get apart peacefully. To sum up, the researcher made some suggestions according to the results and findings for single ones, school consultants, teachers, social members, government authorities, and future researches. 林佩蓉 2002 學位論文 ; thesis 240 zh-TW
