The structure of this Supply Chain system has experienced changes because the industrial environment in which each company operates is different one from another and the overall management condition of the market is ever shifting. Within various Supply Chain Types, how does a company’s Supply Chain Management Strategy relate to its performance? This research looks into different industrial Supply Chain Types to examine the relationship between Supply Chain Management Strategies and their performance, so that it might provide helpful guidelines for companies engaged in Supply Chain Management.
This research targets on the manufacturing industry. It divides the Supply Chain Types into three groups according the varieties of networks, and another three according to activity orientation, to discuss how Types, Management Strategy and Performance interrelate with one another. Mail survey has been conducted with 275 survey forms delivered, among which 101 valid survey returns, or 36.73%, were received.
The research discovered that both the Supply Chain activity orientation and the Supply Chain network varieties were capable of influencing Supply Chain Management Strategy. Specifically, the impact of the Supply Chain network varieties on inventory re-reduction, as well as that of the Supply Chain activity orientation on product design strategy, was significant. A company’s delayed inventory re-reduction strategy and product diversification strategy were related to the performance of the Supply Chain. The interaction between Supply Chain Type and Management Strategy also significantly affected the performance of the Supply Chain. From this it was discovered that when the Supply Chain Type was for manufacturing/producing complicated convergent equipment, it along with Management Strategy Responses and Inventory Group considerably influenced performance.
