Summary:碩士 === 淡江大學 === 化學工程學系 === 90 === A theoretical study on improvements of the multi-pass rectangular mass exchangers with uniform wall concentration and external refluxes has been investigated by using an orthogonal expansion technique and with eigenfunction expanded in terms of power series. Comparisons of analytical results were made between the single-pass (without permeable barrier inserted) and double-pass operations without recycle of the same size. Considerable enhancement in the mass transfer efficiency for large mass-transfer Graetz numbers is obtainable when the recycle-effect is introduced in designing multi-pass mass exchangers with external refluxes. The effect of the permeable-barrier location on the enhancement of mass transfer efficiency as well as the increment of power consumption, is also discussed.
