| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 技術及職業教育研究所 === 90 === This research aims to discuss the factors concerned with students’ choices of senior and vocational high schools, their information sources of choosing schools and the cost of money and time they spend on commuting. Based on the results, suggestions are put forward to serve as planning principles for education administrators and development of high schools.
To reach the above goals, first, the natures and functions of senior high school education are surveyed, as well as the factors for choosing schools and the sources of information through the literature review. Second, formulate a questionnaire─“The investigation of Taipei high school students enrollment status, the factors of choosing schools and information sources” as a research tool. Then distribute the questionnaire to 1,002 students coming from 24 municipal and private senior high schools, comprehensive high schools, and vocational high schools in 12 districts of Taipei. Last but not the least, examine the final data using statistics methods, such as “mean”, “percentage”, “standard deviation”, “T-test”, “one-way ANOVA”, “two-way ANOVA”. Listed below are the conclusions:
1. Important factors influencing students’ choices of schools are: pleasant environment, conscientious teachers, normal teaching, personal preference of the school, cheap tuitions.
2. Information provided by Taipei senior high and vocational high schools and regarded as important by students are: school facilities, curriculum planning, extracurricular activities planning, recent rate of probability to enter higher school.
3. Each student uses 4.16 information sources in average to choose schools. Important sources include: discussion with junior high school teachers, judgment by oneself, advertisement senior or vocational high schools made in junior high schools, school expositions.
4. 40.7% students in Taipei senior high and vocational high schools come from other cities and counties, which shows the serious status quo of non-Taipei City-dweller students.
5. Commuting costs of time for students in Taipei senior and vocational high school range mostly from 16 to 30 minutes. 91.31% students spend no more than an hour in commuting.
6. Commuting costs of money for students in Taipei senior and vocational high schools range mostly from 21 to 35 NT dollars.
