Also, the GSM networks are now offered island-wide coverage and the transmitted GSM signals can be received almost everywhere. Using the existing mobile telecommunications networks, this thesis is devoted to investigate the GSM-based architecture of emergency-care systems that can provide a wide range of operating conditions for the users, especially for the living alones and patients having Alzheimer’s disease. The developed system has three basic function modules for the client. It includes vital signal acquisition, emergency signaling, and user positioning. Using GSM networks, the obtained signals can be transmitted to the server in the form of GSM short message. After receiving the signals, the server can display the user’s vital signals, locate the position on an electronic map, and then store the signals in the database. As a result, the doctors can observe the physical conditions of patients via Internet. In addition, when the user in emergency situations, he can push the emergency button. The PIC16F876 microprocessor will send several emergency messages to many receivers through the GSM networks. Meanwhile, our system also provides position information from positioning module and then the rescue persons will know the location of user and find the user in a short time. According to the received messages of ECG, they can provide rescue support necessarily. A prototype included all functions mentioned above is implemented to test the practicality of the system. Using electrocardiograph (ECG) signals as testing signals, the functionality of the emergency-care systems is verified. In our experiments, this prototype can be used autonomously with the SMS sending ECG signals to server. Also, server can record the ECG signals of user. Moreover, our system can provide the position of user by GPS and provide emergency-care quickly and actively. Chwan-Lu Tseng 曾傳蘆 2002 學位論文 ; thesis 64 zh-TW
