Summary: | 碩士 === 東海大學 === 資訊工程與科學系碩士在職專班 === 90 === Network systems are now popular in the world. They are changed and improved quickly so as systems can provide a convenient and friendly environment to attract users continuously using them. Today computer networks are not only links for transferring data files between nodes. Multi-media and voice applications are also widely distributed, developed and used. So quality of service (QoS) becomes one of the most important topics in network research. On the other hand, network management acting a major role in improving network efficiency and quality is also one of the essential researches in computer science.
In this thesis, we promote a dynamic bandwidth allocation approach to allocate network bandwidth of a router at run-time when congestion occurs so as quality of network service--bandwidth for important packets can be preserved. The bandwidth allocation is performed by using Exponential Average Algorithm to calculate the history bandwidth actually occupied by some types of important packets to predict the bandwidth they need in next moment. Throughput and drop rate of packets of all types are analyzed.
Besides, an experimental architecture for generating traffic and monitoring network bandwidth is also constructed. All the monitoring data are gathered and stored in database. They are the basis for producing parameters to adjust network performance, especially in bandwidth allocation. The purposes are to decrease the load of a network manager and to provide a higher quality of network service for users.
