The reaction of 4-amino-1,8-naphthalimide with epichlorohydrin to form the structure of 6-Amino-2-oxiranylmethyl-benzo[de] isoquinoline-1,3-dione has been proven by NMR, Mass spectra, and IR spectra, respectively. The fluorescent of 6-Amino-2-oxiranylmethyl-benzo[de] isoquinoline-1,3-dione, under the investigation of the fluorescent spectrophotometer (F-4500, Hitachi, Japan), is exhibited at around 424 nm. This fluorescent dye reacted with toluene diisocyanate in the presence of other additives to form the structure of the fluorescent-dye polyurethane ionomer has also been proven by IR spectra.
The experimental results show that the viscosity for the fluorescent-dye polyurethane ionomer in aqueous solution appears to increase with increasing the concentration of the fluorescent-dye used to prepare this polyurethane ionomer, and that the surface tension, on the other hand, for the fluorescent-dye polyurethane ionomer in aqueous solution is seen not to increase with increasing the concentration of the fluorescent-dye, as a result of the saturated adsorption of hydrophobic group at the surface of water. It is important to note that, for these fluorescent-dye polyurethane ionomer in aqueous solution, the average particle size appears to increase slightly with an increase of the fluorescent-dye concentration. This is the result of increased free volume of the fluorescent-dye polyurethane ionomer molecule.
According to the experimental results, it was found that the tensile strength for the self-cured film made by the fluorescent-dye polyurethane ionomer is seen to increase slightly as the concentration of the fluorescent-dye is increased. This is because the intermolecular interaction between the fluorescent-dye polyurethane ionomer molecules themselves becomes stronger.
