Description
Summary:碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 新聞研究所 === 90 === The main purpose of this study is to investigate factors that affect elementary students’ attitudes toward internet. Independent variables are background variables, students’ using of internet, and environmental resources. The sample size is 1201, covered 12 selected schools in Taipei City. Statistical methods, including T-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation and Multiple-regression were applied to analyze data. The results are as follows: 88% students have used internet, and 32.8% of them use once to three times per week. They spend 10 minutes to 2 hours every time and have used internet more than one year. 77.4% students have facilities and 68.6% have resources at home. Top five reasons students consider as internet problems are, low-speed of internet (55.6%), fear of virus (38%),high expenses (29.2%), lack of time (23.2%) and not familiar with operating skills (16.2%). In average, students hold very positive attitudes toward internet. The gender of subjects makes significant differences to their attitudes toward internet, particularly on interests/liking, confidence, anxiety, cognition of positive qualities of internet and overall attitude dimensions, male students have better attitudes toward internet. Age, grade, area do not make significant differences. The findings also show that: (1) Students’ prior experiences of using internet have significant influences, and are also positively correlated with their attitudes toward internet. (2) Owning the facilities and resources at home, more family members using internet, more frequent discussions between family members, family members in related fields, parents and teachers’ positive attitudes and attending related classes can all have significant influences on students’ attitudes toward internet. (3) Top five predictors are students’ experience toward internet with R square 8.9%, parents’ attitudes (5.3%), every using time (2.4%), students’ using or not (2.1%). Dominant variables can explain 22.5% students’ attitudes toward internet.
