However, there are plenty of green building techniques, and each technique is applied in different step of design process. Therefore, it’s difficult to choose the appropriate techniques for designers. In order to solve the problem, and to apply for green building label, this study attempts to find out the more appropriate techniques for housing during design process. At the first stage of the study, the development and the contend of domestic and overseas green housing design techniques are collected and sorted out by the seven categories which are used in the green building evaluation system in Taiwan. Furthermore, a practical planning and designing case is brought in to carry out simulated analysis, and the effect of each technique is evaluated by the green building evaluation system. As a result, several conclusion has found: (1) Not all green building design techniques are suitable for the use of housing, the choose of techniques must depend on the characters of housing and the development of techniques. (2) There are 13 green building techniques which are efficient in achieving the standards of the indices for green building evaluation. Ecogreenization, water absorbing and permeating pool , and water saving hygienic instrument are the most efficient techniques.
