Therefore, how to improve service and power qualities instead of economy concern that formerly do has become the major concern in power industry. With the well developed of communication and control equipments, the distribution automation and distributed generation schemes become more feasible and in demand, also improve operation efficiency and service quality to solve problems in the present distribution systems. Once the automation and distributed generation schemes for the distribution systems are well installed, the present type and configuration of distribution system should be re-evaluated under different conditions such that a more appropriate structure can be achieved. Although, there are many methods to improve the power quality of distribution system, voltage regulation could be the basic rule among them. In view of this, the thesis aims to conduct the evaluation of voltage drop for different configurations of distribution systems involving basic radial structure, loop structure, and mesh structure in normal and fault conditions. Simulation results conducted on actual Taipower distribution systems show that the mesh structure has the better characteristic in terms of voltage drop. The results of this study could be a valuable reference for the distribution system planning engineers. Recently, the rapid growth of load density and demand makes the distribution systems more important.
