Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 醫學工程學研究所 === 90 === The traditional aids for vision impairment normally relies on tactical or sound perceptions to partially restore the quality of daily activities. However, the definition of vision impairment includes various degrees of low vision and blindness. There are a large number of progressive low vision patients among the vision impairment. It is believe that better visual stimulus at this stage can have significant effects on the subsequently rehabilitation processes, no matters of the ages of patients.
It is our goal to pursuit An Adaptive Digital Vision Aid for Low Vision, especially those caused by cataract and macular degeneration diseases. This system not only provides the traditional monochromatic high contrast, brightness, field adjustment and necessary enlargement but also optimally compensates each individual’s visual loss according to the measurement of his/her own contrast sensitivity function (CSF). This feature can apply to both text and color images, which certainly increases the quality of visual perception. The client set up can be done automatically through the internet connections. This will allow the delivery of text or image information on the server side from classroom or library to the users for the purposes of education easily. The system has been further minimized and enhanced by using digital signal processing (DSP) chip and head mounted display (HMD). This will allow the realization of a functional portable system for better quality daily life activities.
