Concerning the propeller by 2 parts : structure and the convenience of replaceable blade and variable pitch. Most of the propellers are made from metal, they cost more than composite propellers. So if some of the metal propeller changed to be composite propeller are very economic. There are some manufacturers produce replaceable blade composite propellers, but only PROPULSE make the replaceable blade and variable pitch. This is a very interesting topic, worth our study. The propeller we designed first time can’t satisfy our porpulse, the stress on the blade is always higher than ultimate tensile stress, unless on calculation, even tested by boat get the same answer. And the propeller is not convenient to constitute together, and the way to deside pitch is rely on a copper block. When you want to change the pitch, the copper block should be replaced. So it’s really not convenient. For structure , we modify it by 3 ways : (1) make the join part wider (2) make the blade thicker (3) use high strength materials. By calculation, the propeller is safe on any condition. For constitution, we remove the copper block and use screw and sawtooth to fix the blade, and it works perfectly. All the calculation use MIT PSF2 for fluid analysis and ANSYS for structural calculation, we make it convenient for use. Make it easy for other analysis. 林輝政 2002 學位論文 ; thesis 51 zh-TW
