Modern LRT even bears the concept of protecting the weakness groups and moving landmark. So far, however, Taiwan doesn take the advantage of this less expensive, clean, safe, and convenient public transportation. Fortunately, Taiwan government, research institutions, and industry start to investigate the feasibility of LRT, and lots of LRT construction plans are booming along the west Taiwan Island. From the aspects of market scale, system maturity, entrance barrier, integrity of supply chain, LRT, no doubt, has the priority to be chosen as a touchstone to the rail industry, and start line of technology diffusion. Many transportation exports think that the rail transit construction and rail industry issues should be separated because the local industry is not strong enough. The author, however, challenges this specious argument. Taiwan economics faces the severe depression ever; the statistics of misemployment keeps climbing. The author believes that somehow the integration of the light rail market and industry can help. It a triple-win strategy. This research uses Porter diamond model to analyze the competitive advantage of Taiwan, which suggests that Taiwan has fair advantage only on the nation need, opportunity, and government regulation as well. But the government needs to do more to protect our baby rail industry, just like every major country does. By applying the Porter five forces analysis, it observed that Taiwan light rail industry confront the severe competitions mainly from Europe; the other four forces are relatively weak. The major finding after SWOT analysis is that Taiwan light rail industry doesn have a good structure so far, which is again dominated by threatens abroad. Nevertheless, most local sectors feel optimistic not only because of the huge market, but also due to the success innovation of the first ever indigenous vehicle. ocus” and roduct segmentation” are suggested strategies at present stage of the Taiwan light rail industry. The further suggestions are: 1.for government: strategically incubate the light rail industry; 2.for private sectors: strengthen the supply chain and exercise the best practices; 3.for research institutions: build the rail techniques platform.
