Summary: | 博士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 動物學研究所 === 90 === The divisions of the adductor mandibulae among a wide spectrum of teleostei have been surveyed. The feeding habits do not dominate the numbers and natures of the division of adductor mandibulae. This muscle is innervated by the ramus mandibularis V, that is a reliable character for identifying the divisions, of which were redefined. The section A2(b) of the adductor mandibulae would inserts into the Meckelian fossa, and connects with the section Aw. The ramus mandibularis V always lies lateral to the section A2(b), and enters into the Meckelian fossa together with the section A2(b). The sections A1(b) given the name in teleosts are not homology. In the Clupeomorpha, Cyprinidae, Mugilomorpha, Atherinomorpha and Percomorpha, the adductor mandibulae showes consistent and stable divisions. The divisions of adductor mandibulae also supports that Mugilomorpha and Atherinomorpha are sister groups. The A1+A2(a) division was found in the Percomorpha, Lampridiformes and Polymixiiformes. A particular configuration of A1 and A2(a) is found; this configuration can be found in Triacanthoidei and Percoidei. The synapomorphic characters of past literatures for supporting Acanthomorpha and Percormorpha were revised, and showed large amount of homoplasy.
