Next are in-direct production cost, interest of capital and land rent. The feed cost are 3.73 NT$/bird with proportion to 40.02% of direct production cost and is the highest item of the direct production cost. Following by labor, hatching and chick costs. The revenue of breeder in Taiwan counts on value of main products 8.87 NT$/bird of the year 2001, and the gross revenue is 9.43 NT$/bird, the loss of production is —0.91 NT$/bird. The broiler production performance in Taiwan of the year 2000-2001, the production cost is 31.73 NT$/Kg. Direct production cost is 30.67 NT$/Kg, which is 96.66% of total production cost. The highest item of the direct production is feed cost with 19.87 NT$/Kg approximate to 64.80%, following by chick, labor, medicine and vaccine cost. The revenue of broiler in Taiwan counts on value of main products 34.15 NT$/Kg of the year 2001, and the gross revenue is 34.38 NT$/Kg, the gain of production is 2.66 NT$/Kg. The windowless housing system had the best performance of the housing system, and the opening housing system is worst. The farm could be at a loss if depending on the facility of feeding nor feed management technique. Due to open housing system are the major operation in South, and the labor by self is significantly higher than farms in the North and the Central of Taiwan. That is enterprising of the farm in North, and family type in South. Farm size isn’t affecting production cost, revenue and performance of broiler in completely windowless and windowless housing system. However, the small broiler farm has the worse production performance of broiler in open housing system. Better production performance are found in farm which have higher medicine and vaccine cost. But the production cost is equal to farm which has lower medicine and vaccine, due to higher medicine and vaccine cost, and the gain or loss of production are the same.
