Catopsilia pomona (Fabricius) belongs to pierid butterflies. The study was performed to collect the basic biological data of immature stages and adults of Catopsilia Pomona to explore its morphology, life history, leaf consumption of each larval instar, and host plant preference . The effect of temperature on larval development was also studied. Eggs were collected from the Cassia fistula Linn. and reared at various temperatures in the incubators. The developmental period and survival rate of each stage of C. pomona on the various temperatures were observed. The data showed that the insects grew up fastest at 35°C and slowest at 15°C. The effective temperatures of egg, 1st to 5 th larval instars and pupa were 33.14, 25.40, 25.51, 25.93, 27.98, 69.95,and 114.29 degree-days, respectively. The total effective temperature was 303.30 degree-day. The leaf consumption of C. pomona from 1st instar to 5th instar were 0.027 ±0.02 , 0.66 ±0.34 , 6.82 ±0.23 , 19.54 ±0.82, and 70.18 ±15.13 cm², respectively. The weight of 1st to 5 th instar were 0.0158 ±0.0137g , 0.0193 ±0.0104g , 0.0291 ±0.01803g , 0.1481 ±0.0464g , and 0.5189 ±0.2742g ( n =20) . The female prefers to oviposite on the younger leaves. External morphology of each stages and adult’s behavior were also described. The theme was on also designing simple learning materials lists and questions for teaching.
