Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 生化科學研究所 === 90 === CD8 molecule is a cell-surface glycoprotein that normally exists as a disulfide-linked heterodimer of theαandβchains on a subset of T cells. As a coreceptor, CD8 is thought to participate in both T cell development and antigen recognition by T cell, and function as a signal transduction unit.
In this study, we reported the map and partial sequence of a 80kb config containing the structural gene of chicken CD8a molecule. Surprisingly, many copies of CD8a V-like sequences are present in this region as evidenced by both southern blot and DNA sequence analyses. In combined with the sequence and structure analyses on genes encoding MHC class I and CD8a molecules published in NCBI data base, our results clearly indicate that chicken CD8a molecule is polymorphic and gene conversion is used to generate the polymorphism, similar to the mechanism by which chicken generates the diversity of Ig genes.
