Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 化學工程學研究所 === 90 === Electrophoresis, the movement of a charged entity as a response to an applied electric field, is a useful tool to gather information about the charged conditions on cell surface. The electrophoretic behavior of PC 12 cell is investigated in this study. In particular, the effects of pH and ionic strength on the electrophoretic behavior of a cell are examined both experimentally and theoretically. A charge-regulation model is proposed which simulates the charged conditions of cell surface. The model proposed is capable of predicting the density of dissociable functional groups on cell surface and the equilibrium constant. We show that under typical conditions, the surface of PC 12 cell is negatively charged. Both pH and ionic strength have a significant influence on its electrophoretic mobility. The surface of a cell may contain several kinds of acidic functional groups, and may have a certain interaction with the cations in the liquid phase.
