It is difficult for planners to make decisions efficiently from these data. In order to satisfy the requirement of quick response, the relational database and the spreadsheets are no longer sufficient. Therefore, this thesis applies the new information technology, namely, On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP), and develops a software system to help users determine a Demand Planning Hierarchy quickly. The concept of Demand Planning Hierarchy (DPH) is first developed by Chen[3] to improve demand planning efficiency. OLAP and the Multidimensional database are utilized to design and implement a DPH software system. This system provides not only the greedy method but also the dynamic programming approach to search for the DPH. In addition, it can support planners to choose a specific product combination, and the system will provide middle out approach to get the DPH.
