The ocean waves are always treated as JONSWAP spectrum and Rayleigh wave height distribution. The numerical wave heights for irregular waves are always transferred from square root of total wave energy suggested by Goda. Wave height distributions from field observations in Su-Ao port, however, are proved to not satisfy the Rayleigh distribution. Such evidence causes the change of the relation between wave height and wave energy inside the harbor, and caused to reopen the discussion about the numerical scheme of harbor tranquility under irregular waves action. This study discussed the difference between the energy ratio type and wave height ratio type amplification ratios, and the relation between wave energy and wave height in different spectrum or wave height distribution. A correction factor is thus suggested. Also, the segmentation scheme and its energy integration of a wave spectrum are tested and discussed. A partial opening rectangular harbor is used in numerical simulation, and the significant wave height statistics for the nodal point inside the harbor are proceeded and evaluated.
