Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 初等教育系教師在職進修輔導教育學碩士學位班 === 90 === This research study wants to investigate the difference and the relationship between single children and non-single children’s attachment and life adjustment in Tainan city. Subjects are single children and non-single children in fourth grade and sixth grade from 14 public elementary schools within Tainan city. Total number of subjects is 464. This research uses questionnaire for gathering data. The research instruments include “The Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment” and “The Revision of Elementary School Children Life Adjustment”. The data gathered are processed using mult- variate analysis with three-way ANOVA and Pearson correlation. The following are the major findings.
I. In the difference of attachment, single children were superior to non-single children in both “father attachment” and “mother attachment”. In addition, in peer attachment, single female children were superior to both non-single female children and single male children,but no significant difference was found in gender and grade difference.
II. In life adjustment, single children were superior to non-single children in the following categories: affiliation, social adjustment, adjustment in study and game-play, life goal, emotional stability, and neurosis. No significant difference was found in gender and grade except in adjustment in study and game-play, fourth graders were superior to six graders. In addition, in self-acceptance, single female children were superior to non-single female children. Also, non-single male children were superior to non-single female children, however, no significant difference was found in gender and grade. In total points for life adjustment, single female children were superior to non-single female children and single male children, but again, no significant difference was found in gender and grade.
III. In attachment and life adjustment, Both single children and non-single children in “father attachment”, “mother attachment” and “peer attachment” were positively correlated with life adjustment.
This researcher, based on the results found, would discuss and give theoretical, practical and research related suggestions as references for those who would like to research more into single children and counsel them.
