This research organized a literacy program for immigrant brides at Yang-Shou Village (pseudonym) with a view to analyzing the process in which the immigrant brides became literate and the influences literacy education had on them. The findings were as follows: 1. The design of the materials for immigrant brides’ literacy education should preferably, in the beginning (or presently), be based on literacy in the narrow sense, which signifies that the materials, covering the four skills of “listening, speaking, reading, writing”, should offer immigrant brides the literacy ability to facilitate them with basic living skills. 2. The influences of literacy education on the immigrant brides at Yang-Shuo Village were the convenience of life, the satisfaction of needs, and the enhancement of the ability to bring up their children. 3. The factors to affect the immigrant brides’ learning were their original educational level, pre-marital family background, life conditions, traits of character and motivation to become literate, peer force, and transportation. 林彩岫 2002 學位論文 ; thesis 148 zh-TW |

The purposes of this research were to explore the necessity of literacy education for immigrant brides, the way it was operated, and the factors that affected their learning.
This research organized a literacy program for immigrant brides at Yang-Shou Village (pseudonym) with a view to analyzing the process in which the immigrant brides became literate and the influences literacy education had on them.
The findings were as follows:
