National Taiwan College of Physical Education, Taichung. Total page number; 176 pages. ABSTRACT This research is a study on the samples from a specific region and group of people. The main purpose of it was to unveil the factors that keep the women in the countryside away from the participation in the leisure activities. I hope through this intensive analysis, I can find out any possible solution or strategy to increase the chance of those women to get involved in the leisure activities, which in turn enriches the quality of their daily life. This study is carried out through telephone interview. By careful experimental design, 400 samples were selected from all the 13 villages in YuCht, Nanto. After collecting data, I have gone through kappa analysis and prominence test, and found out the following results: A. The primary reasons for countryside women not participating in the leisure activities were the limit of time and tiredness from labor work. B. Most women in YuCht support leisure activities, and they like them, too. However, the participation rate is actually quite low due to the reasons mentioned above. C. The marital status has some impact, Divorced women seemed to face fewer obstacles than those with other marital status. In other hand, the women, who struggle to keep their marriage and family, have greater difficulty to participate in the leisure activities. D. There is significant difference between their understanding and obstacle factors among the women in the countryside. The results also shown there did the educational status as well as the number of children of the samples cause significant influence? E. The promotion of leisure activities should be designed based on the age. To reach the goal that everyone exercise, we have to design different activities that are appropriate for different age groups, as well as the women with different personality.
