This study is intended to provide a comprehensive analysis of the following: The
state of the organizational commitment and the professional commitment ofelementary school volleyball coaches; variables of different backgrounds that affect elementary school volleyball coaches on their organizational commitment; ifferent degrees of professional commitment made by elementary school volleyball coaches from different backgrounds; the co-relationship of the organizational commitment and the professional commitment of elementary school volleyball coaches. A questionnaire survey was conducted as a method of gathering the data for this research from 351 volleyball coaches in some 235 public elementary schools across Taiwan. Two forms,The Inventory of the Organizational Commitment from Elementary School Volleyball Coaches" and the other is "The Inventory of the Professional Commitment from Elementary School Volleyball Coaches"weve used as a research tool in this study. The results of the questionnaire reveal that:
1. Elementary school volleyball coaches feature high organizational commitment and professional commitment;
2. In terms of the backgrounds of elementary school volleyball coaches, several variables such as gender, age, different coaching levels, years of receiving the training, current positions, etc. are proved to affect their organizational commitment;
3. Variables that contribute to different professional commitments of elementary school volleyball coaches include gender, age, different coaching levels, current positions, school size, etc.;
4. The organizational commitment of elementary school volleyball coaches is convinced, according to this study, to be highly co-related to their professional commitment.
Based on the results of this study, some suggestions are given to the associated educational authorities, elementary schools and elementary school volleyball coaches, and also as a reference to further researches.
