Service sector has long being considered as a low or even non-pollution industry. However, more and more examples and requirements on greening the supply chain shown that environmental management for service sector has become a crucial business management strategy. Although this subject is popular in the industrialized countries, it has not been taken seriously in Taiwan. In this study, several convenience chain stores were investigated to evaluate the status of environmental management for Taiwan’s service sector. The results show that environmental management of Taiwan’s convenience chain stores, in general, still in the initial stage, which is passive and reluctant. However, it is found that President Chain Store Corp. has good system to manage its environmental issues, and this is primarily due to the unique business culture, which established by the top-down commitment of management level. Study also shows that a good logistic and distribution center and planning could greatly improve the efficiency of the operational departments and reduce the environmental burdens as well.
