In-depth interview is the main source of collecting data. Interviews are recorded in tapes and dialogues of the interviews are copied down word by word. Interview data are subjected to constant comparative analysis both within and across cases. Seventeen subjects are participate in this research and they are asked to check the results. From the data analysis, the process of coping with the attitudes in facing the dying patients is developed. The process is divided into four components: recognizing the real conditions, weighing the differences between recognition and the real conditions, triggering emotional reactions, and accepting conditions and taking strategies. Accepting conditions and taking strategies may change her past recognition or realize and accept the existed real context to adopt other adjusting strategies. Therefore, “the process of coping with the attitude of facing the dying patients” is recycled and dynamic. Students’ background and related experiences would affect their recognition to context and change their sense in “the process of coping with the attitude of facing the dying patients.” These also affect the extent of acceptance and willingness to adjust. Those students who are situated in “the process of coping with the attitude of facing the dying patients” are able to deal with the impact of dying situations. When something different happens, they will connect it to their previous experience, control their emotions, and adopt efficient methods to deal with it. In the wake of comparison between those who did better and who did worse in “ the process of coping with the attitude of facing the dying patients,” the improvement can be focused on (1) minimizing the impact of facing the dying context, (2) helping students connect their previous experiences to the present medical context. (3) encouraging educators to provide acceptance and support for students who evoke emotional responses, (4)helping students familiarize different adjusting strategies and choose the most effective one to achieve “the process of coping with the attitude of facing the dying patients.” The result of this study increases our knowledge about nursing students’ psychological process and the way they feel, offers suggestions to the study of nursing care on the dying, and provides a framework and reference for further theoretical study. 尉遲淦 2002 學位論文 ; thesis 0 zh-TW
