Physiology, psychology, and even culture plays a subtle role in children’s perception of color. However, a review of recent studies notes that very few studies explore the issues of children’s perception in color. The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of color order of from elementary school children. The research method was based on a color order test. This test asked students to identify the order of twenty-two color schemes chips. The arguments including age and gender and the dependent variables corresponding the color order ability, which to appraise the differences and establish models of the children’s color order ability. The total number of the subject is 418 elementary school boys and girls from the first grade, the third grade and the fifth grade separately. The major findings describe as follow: (1) There was a significant difference on the color order ability among the grade; (2) The genders were not the crucial factor for the different responses to the perception of color order. (3) The ability of color ordering have obvious difference in the age of argument respective boys and girls (4) Regardless of gender, students from the fifth grade were most sensitive to color order. This study provided data of children’s perception of color order, which essentials in art education. Parallel interdisciplinary studies, which examine aspects of culture context, psychology and physiology, would provide a more complete understanding of children’s responses to color relationships and the meaning of color. Further research on the perception of electronics color with cultural context between genders was suggested in order to provide the art educator with more information about the relationship of color and the children drawing.
