Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 國際企業研究所 === 90 === This study aims to explore the antecedents of strategic consensus among senior managers who come from different parent companies, and to examine the relationship between the level of strategic consensus and performance in international joint venture (IJV). In the past, the researches that related to the internal mechanism of decision-making in international joint venture were lacked, especially in determinant factors of consensus among parent companies. Hence, the purpose of this paper is aimed at filling the theoretical gap and to provide suggestions to international management practice. The research data including 106 international joint venture cases comes from Taiwan Top 1000 manufactory firms. We utilized multiple regression analysis to test main hypotheses. The findings are differentiated three sectors. First, we find that the gaps of marketing capacity, difference of corporate culture, degree of resource permeability between parents and strategic importance of joint venture corporate are important determinant factors of strategic consensus. Second, the results indicate that consensus increases the performance in the case of a differentiation strategy but not obviously in the case of a low-cost strategy. Additionally, the relationship between consensus and performance is positively influenced by dynamism of the market.
