A certain degree of success was obtained in lowering the dimension of this thermoelectric material; this was accomplished via a chemical intercalation, exfoliation and flocculation process. The crystal structures of the as-deposited and annealed samples are determined by XRD, SEM and TEM, the reducing of dimensionality was found. Mixtures of methanol and water are used as dispersing agent in exfoliation. Both of the dispersing agent and the annealing temperature show some effects on the crystallinity and morphology of these products. The crystallinity and grain size of the product increase with the increasing water content and also with increasing annealing temperature. A more preferred orientation, tendency to form a two dimensional structure, in the c-axis was found upon annealing. From pictures of SEM and TEM, are microrods, thin films and nanorods found. In summary, this chemical intercalation, exfoliation, and flocculation process is not only quite valuable in the fundamental research, but also a successful means for producing micro/nano rods.
