The purpose of this research is to understand the life experiences of the military’ wives and their mental process of being a wife and a mother. Hence, this research focus on the following questions:
1. Why did a military wife choose to marry a military?
2. What effect would the separate marriage pattern of a military family have upon a couple‘s relationship?
3. What effect would a military constant absence in his family have upon the family life and the relationship between parents and children?
4. What way are the military families adapt the kind of life pattern？
The research used 5 military wives as subjects and semi-structural interview as method. After these deep interviews with the above questions, the text analysis was conducted on the basis of the data obtained from these interviews and revealed that:
1. The reason that a military wife chose to marry a military was “stability”.
2. Te couple’s commitment to each other in a military family is the most important element of a stable marriage.
3. There are many obstacles to overcome in the military family system.
4. The social resources network of the military wives is quite narrow.
5. The lack of the father’s role of a long term in a military family influences the children’s physical and mental development.
6. The military wives have the responsibility and the pressure caused by playing multi roles.
7. The leisure activities of the military families tend to be “simple”.
According to the integration of the results, the research has following suggestions:
1. The suggestions about the research:
(a) A military who has children below 12 years old should take the unit that is near home or can offer a stable job as the prior option.
(b) The Government should enhance the mental and the emotional support and counseling to the military wives and children.
(c) A military wife should make herself progress and fulfil herself to help self-development.
2. The suggestions about the family education are:
(a) To conduct a premarital counseling and guidence system for the military families.
(b) To conduct a psychological counseling and guidence channel for the military wives and children.
(c) To enhance the parental education of the military families.
(d) To implement the marital and the male and female education as well as career planning with detailed plans.
3. The suggestions about the coming researches.
