A quasi-experimental design was adopted. Seventy-nine high school juniors participated in this research , and they were drawn from Nantou Senior High School. One of the classes which composed the population constituted experimental group, and the other constituted the control group.
The pretest were administered to all subjects before the experiment. Then the students of experimental group participated in a eight sessions gender egalitarianism curricula with ninety-minute each session conducted by this researcher; and the control group did not receive any treatment during the same period of time. After the experiment, the posttest were administered to all subjects. The instruments administered for pretest and posttest were the Sex Role Stereotypes Test and the Sex Role Egalitarianism Test. Three-way analysis of variance was used.
Statistical analysis showed that gender egalitarianism curricula had no significant group differences between the experimental group and the control group. The data suggested that we should do more research on the gender egalitarianism curricula to find how long and what instruments and strategies would be more effective. However, the written feedback from students of the experimental group indicated that they met with positive experiences from participating in the curricula, and the content of feedback matched the goal of curricula. Discussions and suggestions for application and future research were presented based on the above results.
