The subjects were 20 male long-distance runners with an average of 23.25 ± 4.02 years old, 170.10 ±5.84 cm tall, and weigh 57.60 ± 4.74 kg. Subjects’ best scores in real 1500m, 5000m, and 10000m races were collected for the calculation of critical velocity through the formula of d = CV × T. Individual marathon performance was also collected. These scores had been offered by either the subjects themselves or their coaches, and proved by the researcher. The final result of the average CV was 5.04 ± 0.18m/sec, and correlation coefficient of 1500m, 5000m, 10000m, and marathon performance with critical velocity were -0.39, -0.83, -0.99, and -0.79 respectively. All correlations reached significant level (p<0.05), except for the one in 1500m. In addition, the results also showed that CV can predict only 16% of the 1500m performances, but CV was valid in predicting the 10000m performance. Furthermore, the correlation coefficient between CV and marathon was -0.89(p<0.05). CV accounted for 79% of variance of marathon performance. The results revealed that CV was a good predictor of marathon performance. Therefore, long-distance runners or their coaches may take into consideration the method used in this study, and find out runners’ CV so as to give reference to their training plans. none 林正常 2002 學位論文 ; thesis 41 zh-TW
