The mass production is one of the most competitive abilities in Taiwan. However, after the government pushing the knowledge-economical development projects, it obviously points out that the firms should take the innovation and efficiency these two factors to keep on their competitiveness. And with the decoding of human genome in the United States America and Europe, biotechnology has been regarded as to be one of the most prospective technologies in the next decades. During the past 20 years, the economical development in Taiwan grows speedy, however, owning to the limited natural resources, if they still focus on the traditional production ability , their competitiveness could not be maintained anymore. Meanwhile the government and the enterprise to evaluate upgrading and transforming the strategic management , the biotechnology perhaps is a good choice。
To evaluate which is a suitable bioindustry model for developing in Taiwan, in this paper, we investigated the domestic bioindustry related expert’s opinions by questionnaire, which was designed according to the analysis and studying of the biotechnology policies and firms’ profiles in foreign countries. In this questionnaire, 「bioindustry development in Taiwan」was taken as the target, and by using five factors as below:「research development and technology ability」, 「biotechnology mass environment」, 「right of patent and knowledge」, 「the structure of biotechnology production chain」and 「marketing」, to evaluate the following 6 biotechnological strategic management models, 「biomedicine」, 「bioagriculture」, 「foods」,「fine chemicals」, 「bioenvironmental protection」and 「bioinformatics」, and finally try to find out which one is suitable for promoting in Taiwan biotechnology field. We sent out 28 questionnaires and 26 ones are effective.
We analyzed these questionnaires by using the AHP(Analytical Hierarchy Process) analysis and concluded that:
1, 「research development and technology ability」 and「marketing」, which are the most important and correlative two factors.
2, 「biotech medicine」and 「biotech food」, which perhaps are more prospective management models in Taiwan.
Comparing the investigating results of the current Taiwan biotech firms’ revenue, which indeed have a good correlation with the conclusions as mentioned.
