Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 電機工程學系碩博士班 === 90 === With the broad usage of nonlinear equipments in a modern power system, it has resulted in serious pollution to the supplying power; therefore, the improvement of power quality issue becomes an urgent concern to both utilities and customers. In this thesis, an application of personal digital assistant (PDA) implementing the functions of virtual instrument for the electric power quality monitoring is proposed. Because the PDA is of small- size and lightweight, it is very useful for engineers to carry to the field for any required measurement task. Then, the data collected in the PDA can be transmitted back to the server for a detailed analysis, by which the database is also constructed for the information storage and future references. In this thesis, to facilitate the data transmission, a communication protocol is also developed for the resource exchange need. In this way, the communication efficiency between server and client can be better improved. This integrated approach has been tested under different scenarios, including the harmonics, flickers, and unbalances. Test results support the feasibility of the method for the applications considered.
