Through pilot study, the research questions and directions were clarified and focused. Naturalistic inquiry was adopted as the methodology of this research. Eight female-single-parent children were chosen as participants based on the rules of maximum variation sampling and purposive sampling. In-depth interview was used to collect data. The data were categorized by using constant comparative method. The results were summarized as follows: 5. These single-parent children’s life and the influence of their career: (1)In the mental aspect, when single-parent children’s sorrow couldn’t be released, that would delay their career development.(2)Their bad interpersonal relationship ended when they found out their goodness and interest, knew who they were, and had self-affirmative, they could open their mind and had good interpersonal relationship.(3)In the aspect of facing social stereotype, for single-parent children the social label caused double functions: stress and power because these interviewees were responsible for themselves and their family. 6. The process of single-parent children’s self-integration and the influential factors:(1)In the beginning, they were not confident because they were single-parent children. They had a myth that others’ family was better than theirs. However, through experiencing crisis of life, they found their own power to change themselves.(2)Factors that made them good were love, pure surroundings, Mother’s enlightened and authoritative attitude of child rearing, self-responsibility, strong support, and the influence of Father or marital grandfather. 7. The career exploration of single-parent children:(1)Some of the participants shared family’s economy by “part work, part study”. Thus, they had many experiences of work. Those work experiences helped them modify their original career choices and find suitable career. Besides, through the experience of “part work, part study”, they clarified their vocational values and checked their person-environment congruence.(2)Through facing challenge and frustration on work, their capacity of self-awareness gradually improve. They would use I-power and self-improvement to adapt themselves to new environment. 8. Being considered factors of single-parent children’s career choices: (1)The factors of family included family economy, family’s opinions and expectations, Mother’s support and expectations, and taking care of family.(2)The factors of self included self image, interest, religion, general values, feeling of being respected.(3)The factors of environment included occupational prestige, occupational stability, money, sexual roles, influence of friends. 5.The family system of these single-parent children’s family:(1)Some participants’ family relationship was tangled together. The boundary between parent-children subsystem and sibling subsystem wasn’t clear. Thus, these interviewees in this situation would be confused because of self-uncertainty and the pressure of double roles. However, other participants’ family relationship was too fixed and detached, so the family members would not support each other and was no sense of faithful to and belonging to family. (2)In the aspect of, the researcher discovered that when single-parent children and their mother gradually learned to be emotional independence, single-parent children would know themselves more and had much capacity of self-differentiation.
