Summary: | 博士 === 國立成功大學 === 建築學系碩博士班 === 90 === As a result of mankind’s development, kinds of burden have already exceeded assimilative capacity of our environment. The environment problem has been a international issue. The major cause of the environmental problems are global warming and carbon dioxide emission. Before enacting an effective CO2 emissions reduction policy for the building, we have to establish a life cycle assessment for CO2 emissions resulting from buildings. The purpose of this paper is to establish a localized building life cycle CO2 emission database that includes materials manufacturing, materials transportation, construction, annual energy consumption, repair, reform and demolition, and waste treatment in Taiwan. From the information in this database, a LCA method for CO2 emissions of buildings will be developed.
In order to practice the goal of LCA, we also have to establish the local statistic of the buildings’ life cycle in Taiwan. This research had a large-scale investigation and statistic on building’s demolition in the four cities. We see that the average life span of the buildings which had been demolished in Taiwan between 1981~2001 is only 21.56~24.7 years. Compare with the life span of buildings in Europe and Japan, it is a very short time. The result of this investigation can help us drawing up the building policy and operating on LCA.
From the LCA research, it is known that the LCA for building’s CO2 emissions is deeply influenced by the local energy structure and the building energy consumption characteristics. In order to develop a dependable method for determining building CO2 emission for LCA, the foreign methods could not be directly used and it is required to establish an evaluation system with a localized building life cycle CO2 emission database. Through the estimation method, we could understand the condition of building’ carbon dioxide emission in Taiwan. And establish a forecast formula LCCO2 to charge a building’ environmental burden.
Because the everyday energy consumption accounts for large portion of CO2 emissions, the energy conservation strategy for building is not only the most important part in the LCA for building CO2 emissions but also the most efficient method for the building CO2 reduction policy in Taiwan.
