碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 中國文學系碩博士班 === 90 === Abstract Emerging from the 1970`s, subsequently becoming the mainstream of novelists in the 1980`s, and still pursuing writing in the very present, Xiao Sa plays an unneglectibly important role both in Taiwan literature and among Taiwanese female writers. She has been firmly obsessed by writing and expecting to make constant progress, which on one hand contributes to her creativity in subjects and styles and on the other hand reveals the literature spirits of making breakthroughs and efforts. Therefore, in addition to recording her life and continuous literary works as completely as possible, this article is mainly devoted to concluding and studying three topics from her abundant novel subjects and trying to unveil the meaning of her novel style affected by her colorful personal life experiences. From the viewpoint of Xiao Sa`s consideration and depiction of ‘teenager problems’, it turns out that there exists her growing experience in this topic. However, she is different from the literary works of her peers in that there are more vigorous meanings in her works that precisely reflect the seriously worsening teenager problems derived from the industrialization and urbanization of Taiwan. Moreover, the status of ‘female writer’, her personal female love experiences, and the descriptions about females and marriage, career and family, sufferings from extramarital relations and self-development all in all become the basic contents of the female literature and feminism prevailing at that time in addition to strengthening female consciousness and paving the road of female development. Besides, although Xiao Sa`s depiction about the relationship between two generations still cannot deviate from her background, yet its emphasis on the differences caused by different genders of two generations reveals the role of next-generation males trapped by traditions relative to the progressing and advancing of next-generation females. It is not difficult to find out that this topic also reflects the phenomena of times and societies. To sum up, Xiao Sa studies and cares about the society, life, and literature. As times goes by, the literary works consisting of her serious and careful thoughts are of magnificent importance and becoming the symbol of times and societies.
