In this thesis, another viewpoint of approach is proposed via a specific design and arrangement of permanent magnets on a magnetic track frame and levitation vehicle. This configuration is considered to reduce the complexity and difficulty on the control system design task. A specific arrangement of permanent magnets configuration inside the track frame is analyzed for a vehicle to move along the track under quasi-stable condition. The proposed concept-proofing track model was build and tested to verify the correctitude of the proposed idea. The model was analyzed with finite element analysis (FEA) tool to look into the profile of magnetic field distribution inside the track and to figure out the exerting force and torque on the vehicle model. With the information collected form FEA and practical operation of the model system, some design criteria and recommendation were obtained for the system feasibility and performance improvement to the current system.
