Since then, our government has managed to establish counter-measures such as setting up the fire prevention management system, having periodic inspection on fire safety facilities, which greatly reduced heavy casualty due to fire accidents. 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 建築學系 === 90 === Abstract
Between the year of 1991 to 1996, there has been many cases of major fire accidents that brought up the attention of the commonwealth. Since then, our government has managed to establish counter-measures such as setting up the fire prevention management system, having periodic inspection on fire safety facilities, which greatly reduced heavy casualty due to fire accidents. Although major fire accidents had decreased, however, minor ones were still heard from time to time. Our research emphasizes on small building fires, in order to realize the general fire-safety factors of building fires.
1. Study Goal
Our goal is to discuss regular pattern of building fire casualty, analyze the influence of factors leading to injuries and deaths in order to understand better why fire prevention failed. With these fixed statistics, we can build up the basis of evaluation on building fire safety.
2. Study Methods
1) Document analysis
2) Investigation research
3) Statistic analysis
3. Conclusions
1) The annual number of building fires in Kaohsiung administrative divisions could be accumulated by simple regression.
2) Lacking fire safety facilities and fire containment in residences not only shortens escaping time, but also causes the deaths above the floor of fire source. This is the typical pattern of building fire casualty.
3) Among these safety factors, fire containment, interval materials, and airtight spaces are the main factors that influence the degree of casualty, with these three factor, we are able to predict whether or not each incident is fatal.
