碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 應用數學系 === 90 === With the popularity of the Internet and the growing importance of electronic commerce, the object-oriented distributed architecture has become the core information infrastructure of an enterprise. Currently, Object Management Group’s CORBA, Sun Microsystems’ J2EE, and Microsoft’s .NET are the three main competitive specifications or products for object-oriented distributed architectures In this thesis, we will investigate the architectures of CORBA and J2EE and give the qualitative and quantitative comparisons of both specifications. We implement an application for querying hot songs using CORBA and J2EE. The results show that CORBA and J2EE have about the same number of code lines for this simple application. However, CORBA outperforms J2EE in terms of response time as the data volume or the number of clients increases.
