However, success of the simulation is involved in the calibration of model parameters. Tank Model is a simple-structured model to describe the characteristics of runoff .and its physical meaning is very clear, easy to use and effective. So that Tank Model is widely applied on the simulation of rainfall-runoff events. However, Tank Model contains 16 parameters, and that increases the difficulty of calibration. Two calibration methods are compared in this paper, one is Powell’s conjugate direction method, and another is SCE-UA method. It is found that the SCE has the better ability to search for the16 parameters of Tank Model.
