Summary: | 碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 資訊管理研究所 === 90 === Recently, web-based learning has been getting popular because of the explosion of World Wide Web applications and technologies. Many web-based Learning Management Systems (LMS) have been developed for enhancing the quality and efficiency of learning. In addition to the functionality of LMS, the most critical issue to the success of LMS is the richness of the instructional contents. However, the formats of contents are different among most LMS’s, which makes the contents share and exchange more difficult. Recently, efforts to study the problems have led to the realization of some standards for unifying the instructional contents, such as SCORM(Shareable Content Object Reference Model) and ULF(Universal Learning Format).
The thesis pays much attention to the development of a SCORM compatible LMS, which is based on the J2EE architecture. Firstly, we focus on the system analysis and design for a SCORM compatible LMS by object-oriented technology. The RUP(Rational Unified Process) is adopted and the UML(unified Modeling Language) notations are illustrated for the specification. Then, a non-SCORM LMS is modified and some SCORM compatible components are embedded, which results in a SCORM compatible LMS. Finally, we re-implement the system by using component technology based on the J2EE architecture. The advantages of component technologies and the J2EE architecture make the SCORM compatible LMS full fill of extension and flexibility.
