Each participant was interviewed with a set of low-structured, open-ended questions. Total of nine interview data sets was analyzed and classified into two categories and nine phenomenological themes. The study results show that four themes appeared in a mother’s learning processes of obtaining the knowledge and skills to take care of children with congenital heart disease. They are problem discovery, motivation generation, problem solving and self-evaluation. Five themes were involved in a mother’s feeling about the experience along the journey of taking care of their sick children. They are feeling guilty, feeling being helped, feeling tormented, feeling accomplished, and feeling hopeful. This study also found that not every mother would perceive the abnormality of her child; receive information from medical personnel completely and correctly; discuss her modified plan with medical personnel, use folk prescription and Chinese herb for her sick child; or have difficulties with learning. However, a mother’s perception is very important in the process of discovering and identifying the sickness of her child. Therefore, promoting the mother’s ability of perception is necessary. The findings of this study could be used as a reference for developing a suitable discharge plan for children with congenital heart disease. By means of the promotion of the mother’s caring ability, the pediatric nursing quality in a family with congenital heart disease is expected to be improved. 金繼春 2002 學位論文 ; thesis 115 zh-TW |
