The congruence of parent-child traditionality/modernity, filial piety and its relationship with happiness.

碩士 === 高雄醫學大學 === 行為科學研究所 === 90 === This research aims to discuss two generations’ reactions from relationships of individual traditionality/individual modernity and filial piety match and happiness. The author adopts Taiwanese college students and their parents as samples and takes quantitative study in order to learn two generations’ reactions from relationships of individual traditionality/individual modernity and filial piety match and happiness. Questionnaires were distributed in the north to south of Taiwan. The percentages of collection are 71%, 69%, 72%, and 93% respectively. The average percentage of collection is 78%. Successful parent-child match percentage accounts for 29%. 670 pieces of questionnaires were finished successfully, including 323 from parents and 347 from children. Successful parent-child match are 299. According to the quantitative study, the conclusion of this research is as follows. 1.From the analysis of individual t test review, both parents and children show a remarkable distinction in terms of individual traditionality/ individual modernity. 2.Two generations hold different views in terms of parental care, parental reactions, obedience, family continuation, family business inheritance, ancestor worship. 3.The differential points show positive when making comparison between authority obedience, initiatives, respect, and equality of two genders and filial concepts. 4.The differences of filial piety and happiness: family continuation, family business inheritance, parental reactions show negative outcome when compared to parental happiness. Furthermore, family continuation, family business inheritance also shows negative result when compared to children happiness.
