Although the death rate had decreased, new problems related to health care arose, which include medical care seeking decision. This decision-making was influenced by various factors, such as personal, social-economical, and healthcare system variables. The purposes of this study were to examine patients’ behavior of medical care seeking and analyze the factors that affect patients’ decision making. This study used a structurized questionnaire, and 300 patients at the outpatient waiting areas at one medical center, two regional hospitals and two district hospitals in greater Kaohsiung area were selected as study samples. One hundred and twenty-four samples responded to the survey, with a response rate of 41.3%. The study results revealed that the top-four factors which respondents care most are well-organized outpatient specialties, well-equipped medical instrument, good attitude of medical personnel, and efficient administrative process. In terms of accessibility and availability, respondents perceived physician as the most significant factor that influence their medical care seeking decision, followed by the nurses and administrative personnel.
