Description
Summary:碩士 === 華梵大學 === 工業管理學系碩士班 === 90 === The growth in demand of personal computers has eventually slowed down. The electronics industry is under the pressure of developing new products. Information Appliances (IA) are considered as one of the most competitive merchandises worldwide. Therefore, several manufacturers such as Acer Computer Corp., First International Co., and Mitac Co. are investing in IA product design and manufacturing. In additional to the functionality and market life, the product reliability has also become one of the major factors considered. The superior reliability has a positive influence on business competition and the long term reputation. This research is of a collaboration between academics and IA industry. Disk on Module (DOM) is chosen within the various IA products for its market potential and requirement in reliability. This research includes three portions. First, the reliability sampling plan is established through the use of sequential sampling techniques. This effort determines whether the product under study can perform the desired functionality after a period of service. Specific batch of products was examed by its acceptance/rejection criteria. Secondly, the reliability of DOM products is predicted to help determine the appropriateness of materials quality, product design and manufacturing process. American military standards (Mil-HDBK-217F) and Consumer standards (Bellcore TR-322) were used to access the mean time between failures and failure rate. RELEX reliability prediction system was employed to simplify the table lookup and calculation. Final, the various reliability test methods such as high/low temperature storage/operation, temperature shock, vibration, drop tests, etc. are exercised to further investigate the product reliability.
