The two dimensional pattern making and three dimensional tailoring are the origins of apparel design. Amongst diverse design concepts, the designer intends to use the simple pattern of quadrangle to derive a series of innovative notion in design and techniques to content to the ever-changing fashion. This research adopts the simple quadrangle patterns, and redefines the relationship between garment form, materials, and construction. With both creativity and aesthetics, quadrangle is experimented for its potential in garment construction and appearance, and further investigated for the possibility of becoming convertible design resource. Through literature review, this research probes into the implication granted to quadrangle in two-dimensional and three-dimensional design, and presents the relationship between quadrangle and garment composition as concluded by the designer from her own experience. Secondly, it explains in details about the process of ready-made garments sold domestically, and provides the research result as reference to future garment planning and design. At last, it uses lines of quadrangle to combine with the features of fabrics to exhibit her true creativity. Based on her knowledge and experience in the apparel field, the designer has categorized garment design resources and further challenges her creativity by pioneering in use of quadrangle pattern as a source of design, in order to display a brand new thinking for design inspiration and self-growth for all designers in the design related fields.
