As to adapt and keep pace with the current information age, information literacy becomes one of the indispensable literacy for people today. Information literacy better begins as early as possible. Especially in high school stage, students need to be well prepared for entering college. To handle academic research and to acquire more knowledge in college, students should apply information skills to gather, evaluate, and to share and express what they learn. Information literacy is important to help students to learn efficiently and to have a positive attitude toward learning. This study integrated library and information instruction into high school Chinese class. Through the process of learning and experiencing, students were expected to analyze their own information needs, and know how to evaluate information. By accomplishing assigned tasks, students’ motivation toward information literacy could be fostered. Quasi-experimental design was adopted in the research with the cooperation of two Chinese teachers in National Chung-Ho senior high school. Five classes of students participated in the study. They were assigned into control (Chinese class without library and information instruction) and experimental groups (Chinese class without library and information instruction). The effect of library and information instruction was analyzed. Data gathered in the study include students’ assignment and the questionnaire to assessing students learning style and learning characteristics. The relationship between students’ learning characteristics and their use of library was also assessed. 林麗娟 2002 學位論文 ; thesis 147 zh-TW
