In this method, a series of innovative unit weaves were created to produce various colors to simulate the color image. The color of each unit weave is shown through the neutral mixture of colors by using several color yarns in the jacquard weaving. For the unit weaves presented as many as several thousand colors can be easily produced. Among those unit weaves, the best-fit unit weave to match the color of each image pixel is chosen by using a computer program through least square method. In addition, those unit weaves were designed to eliminate the possibility of too many continuous warp or weft floats. Therefore, the weave pattern diagram generated can be woven into jacquard fabric without any modification. Form the results of computer analysis, it was observed that the sequence arrangement of three color yarns and the arrangement of those warp and weft floats have strong effects on the weave pattern diagram. The sequence arrangement of red, green, and blue yarns, together with the neighboring arrangement of the float point in each color was found to yield the best result of the image. As an example, an image was chosen to weave the jacquard fabrics. The color image shown on the jacquard fabric is very similar to the original image. It is therefore concluded that the proposed jacquard pattern design method is very effective; this method can generate the jacquard pattern design rapidly, the jacquard pattern design can be woven directly without modification, and the image shown is most colorful.
